SWS Annual Yardsale

Thanks to the sincere dedication of a very special group of horsewomen, The Summer Winds Stables horses will benefit from the huge, annual spring yardsale. These women take the time to collect items, mark them, reserve a prime location and give up their spare time to help our rescued horses and OTTB's. As in previous years, monies collected from this yardsale will go towards shots and vet bills.
The event will be held on April 11th on Porter Road in Newark, Delaware.

We are now collecting items in GOOD condition for the yardsale. We need things like : horse supplies, Electronics, horse equipment, saddles, costume jewelry, arts and crafts, artwork, kids toys and clothing, outdoor kids toys, antiques, collectibles, anything that is "saleable". We always need horse items in great condition such as blankets, stable sheets, saddles, shipping boots, brushes, halters - Clean out that tack trunk!! Donations ARE tax deductible!!!!

Things that are NOT saleable include : really old stuff that NO ONE WANTS ANYMORE, used & abused Toys, Anything in that '70's Seafoam green color, mushroom brushes, lemon zesters, Grandma's old TV console, china that isnt really china, shoes that do not match, or things that JUST DON'T WORK. Here's some advice:: THROW IT OUT ALREADY!!!

But...clean out that attic, basement or closent and donate items that are gently used to the yardsale. Then, come out on April 11th and find new stuff to bring home. :) Think of it like a really big swap of stuff ...to benefit the horses!!!

Drop offs are: NOW UNTIL APRIL 1st!! At: Hartly, DE Barn or Warwick MD, feed room. Thanks everyone!!!

Stay tuned for updates and event details!!!

The SummerWinds Stables at Greener Pastures is breaking ground for our new healing garden this month!!

Be part of this beautiful dedication as we plant flowers to honor those that have touched our lives.

Plant a flower in memory of a loved person or pet.

Write about the significance of your flower in our healing journal to be shared with others.
Or
Simply come out and just “be”
As our memories, thoughts and flowers grow and bloom together.

Sit for a spell….enjoy the beautiful farm & the serenity of the flowers, butterflies & fairies found in our garden.

Ode to the Horse

With an emptiness inside me
I abandoned precious hope
Never dreaming for a moment
What I needed was a rope

When in darkness and depression
Every step became a falter
Never thinking for a minute
That my light would be a halter

And with every painful heartbeat
Countless memories to stain
Never planning in advance
Joys returning with a rein

Never, never to imagine
That a life so deeply scarred
Might find love's true, tender healing
Mucking out the horse's yard

Though I've never been a doctor
With assurance I prescribe
For the broken hearted lonely
Take this cure that I describe

When you're feeling down and desperate
Taken liberally of course
Fill your life with blessed pleasure
Saddle up and ride your horse
